Key applications include nitrogen determination, which is essential for calculating protein content in food and beverages, animal feed, and soil and fertilizer samples. For protein analysis, VAPODEST converts measured nitrogen values into accurate protein content, making it ideal for quality control laboratories, research institutions, and industrial food production. In addition, VAPODEST supports the distillation of other volatile compounds, including ammonia, ethanol, sulfur dioxide (SO₂), phenols, and cyanides, enabling a wide range of analytical tasks.
VAPODEST systems offer several key benefits for laboratory operations. They provide high efficiency, with fast distillation cycles typically taking 2–4 minutes per sample and supporting high sample throughput. Their automation and precision features include programmable methods, automated reagent dosing, and optional integrated titration. Enhanced safety is built in, with enclosed systems reducing chemical exposure and built-in monitoring controls. The systems are compliant with ISO, AOAC, and EPA standards, ensuring consistent, reproducible results. Additionally, VAPODEST provides comprehensive data management, including digital recording and audit-ready documentation for quality assurance.
The VAPODEST range includes multiple models to suit different laboratory needs. The 200, 300, and 400 Series are entry- to mid-level systems, ideal for routine nitrogen determination with programmable distillation processes. The 500 Series offers fully automated distillation with integrated titration and high-throughput capability for large sample volumes. The 500C model is an advanced system with full automation, precise titration, and data integration, designed for high-end laboratories and quality control environments.
Block Digestion Systems/Kjeldatherm
Efficient sample digestion is critical for accurate nitrogen and protein testing. Block digestion systems are designed for fast, safe, and precise sample preparation. They are ideal for Kjeldahl nitrogen determination, protein analysis, and environmental testing, providing consistent results for modern laboratories.
Block digestion systems heat multiple samples simultaneously in a controlled digestion block, ensuring uniform heating and reproducible results. With their capacity for multiple samples, these systems are perfect for routine protein and nitrogen analysis. An example of this technology is the Kjeldatherm Series, which is programmable, high-throughput, and reliable for everyday laboratory workflows.
Block digestion systems rely on indirect heating through a solid aluminum block, providing stable and uniform temperature conditions for sample mineralization. This approach is particularly suited for laboratories that require consistent, repeatable digestion for Kjeldahl nitrogen determination and other routine analytical workflows. The KJELDATHERM series is designed to deliver dependable performance with a strong focus on control and reproducibility.
Built for structured, high-capacity operation, KJELDATHERM units support multiple sample positions (typically 8 to 40, depending on configuration), enabling efficient batch processing. The controlled heating process allows for steady temperature ramping, which is beneficial when working with sensitive, heterogeneous, or foaming samples, reducing the likelihood of sample loss or irregular digestion.
Flexibility is ensured through compatibility with various digestion tube volumes (approximately 100–800 ml) and interchangeable rack systems, allowing quick adaptation to different laboratory requirements. The block design ensures even heat distribution across all positions, maintaining consistent digestion conditions from sample to sample.
For safe operation, the system can be integrated with fume removal and neutralization solutions, helping to manage acid vapors generated during digestion. Its robust construction and controlled heating make it suitable not only for Kjeldahl applications but also for general acid digestion procedures.
Infrared Digestion Systems/ Turbotherm
Effective sample digestion is fundamental to precise nitrogen and protein measurements. Infrared digestion systems provide a fast, controlled, and safe approach to sample preparation, supporting applications such as Kjeldahl nitrogen analysis, protein determination, and environmental testing. They ensure reproducible, dependable results for today’s laboratory workflows.
Infrared digestion systems use infrared radiation to rapidly heat samples, significantly reducing digestion time while maintaining accuracy. They are energy-efficient, safe, and well-suited for high-throughput laboratories. The Turbotherm Series exemplifies this approach, offering fast, precise, and efficient digestion for Kjeldahl nitrogen determination and demanding lab workflows. It can bring up to 12 samples to boil in approximately 10 minutes, saving up to 50 % of the time compared to conventional block digestion.
Designed for safety, speed and flexibility, TURBOTHERM handles a wide range of sample types, including aqueous and strongly foaming matrices, and can be adapted quickly to different digestion vessels using interchangeable insert racks. Because heating is direct and uniform, the risk of boiling distortion is minimized, and the system is suitable not only for Kjeldahl acid digestions but also for other acid digestion applications.
It includes a drip tray and exhaust manifold as standard, and fume extraction can be enhanced with compatible suction options such as the TURBOSOG or VACUSOG systems to protect laboratory personnel from corrosive vapours. The device’s direct-heating infrared spiral and integrated fan ensure rapid cool-down after digestion, enabling efficient workflow throughput and fast preparation for subsequent analysis steps.
Available in multiple configurations to accommodate a range of digestion tube sizes (100–800 ml).
Dumas Method/ N-realyzer
The N-Realyzer is a fast, reliable Dumas nitrogen and protein analyzer. It provides accurate, chemical-free analysis for solids and liquids, automates sample handling, and supports high-throughput workflows, making it ideal for food, feed, and research laboratories.
The N-Realyzer is a high-performance elemental analyzer designed for nitrogen and protein determination using the Dumas combustion method. As an advanced alternative to traditional wet chemical techniques like Kjeldahl, the Dumas method provides fast, safe, and chemical-free analysis. In a compact, closed system, the N-Realyzer delivers reliable results for both solid and liquid samples, with analysis times typically between 3–5 minutes per sample and recovery rates exceeding 99.5 % with a standard preparation method.
